The Cambridge CELTA is the most widely recognised English teaching qualification in the world. It’s the qualification most often requested by employers; three out of four English language teaching jobs require a CELTA qualification.
Our relaxed pace part-time CELTA online course on Saturdays has been designed for people who are working or studying full time.
How does the CELTA Saturdays course work?
This is a relaxed pace, part-time CELTA course, offered fully online, with attendance every Saturday (10:00 to 16:30 Eastern European Time). All input, tutorial and teaching practice sessions take place in a live interactive learning environment on Zoom.
Who is this course for?
The CELTA course is intended for those with little or no teaching experience, who wish to be able to teach English anywhere in the world, but is also ideal for practising teachers who wish to refresh their knowledge and get a recognised qualification.
Our CELTA on Saturdays is intended for people who do not have the time to attend classes during the week or spend more than three or four hours a week studying for the course. It is also ideal for those who prefer to take their time to ensure that they fully absorb the course input.

Frequently asked questions
CELTA Online FAQs
Is the CELTA Online equivalent to the CELTA Face to Face?
All Cambridge CELTA courses, whether they are fully online, blended or face to face, cover the same syllabus provided by Cambridge and lead to the same Cambridge certificate, which does not state the mode of course delivery. No matter how you choose to take your course, you get the same standard of training and receive the same internationally recognised CELTA certificate from Cambridge Assessment English. Please check also the information on the Cambridge Assessment English site here.
Is there an exam at the end of the CELTA?
No, there is no exam! The CELTA is a course-based award. Your assessment is continuous and integrated: it is based on your performance in the teaching practice and the written assignments that you complete during the course.
I have no teaching experience whatsoever. Is the CELTA the right course for me?
Yes, it is. The CELTA is intended as an entry-level professional qualification. It does not assume any previous knowledge of teaching methodology or any previous teaching experience. You do, however, need to have a very high level of English to be accepted on the course. At ACE TEFL we only accept candidates with a C2 level of English.
What happens in teaching practice sessions? Do we teach real students?
Yes, you do. You will be teaching students at two different levels, pre-intermediate and upper-intermediate. You will get the chance to practise teaching them on at least eight different occasions, so that you can plan and teach a variety of different types of lessons.
How is teaching practice organised on fully online courses?
In the case of fully online CELTA courses, teaching practice takes place with online classes of students at two different levels. At ACE TEFL, we use Zoom for our online classes, which consist of adult students from a variety of backgrounds.
What is the difference between CELTA synchronous and asynchronous courses?
There are two types of online CELTA that you can go for. In both cases, your teaching practice takes place online: you teach real learners and observe other trainees teach in an online live classroom and then get feedback on your lesson from both your peers and your tutors. The difference between the two modes of online CELTA course delivery is in the way the input is handled, that is in the way you learn.
On an asynchronous CELTA online course, you learn by doing tasks on your computer on your own in your own time. You interact with your tutors and the other trainees mostly asynchronously through forum discussions, i.e. written messages.
On a synchronous CELTA interactive online course, the whole course is based on synchronous interaction: you meet the tutors and other trainees online, on a platform like Zoom, and interact with them live; you work on tasks together, ask questions live, discuss issues live and, if you are attending a full time course, you see your tutors every day.
Is your CELTA Online course synchronous or asynchronous?
At ACE TEFL, we have selected the interactive format for our online CELTA courses. While we acknowledge that for some people an asynchronous format works better, we find the interactive course format more representative of our educational philosophy:
- We believe that even online, people learn better by interacting with one another face to face, so that they can learn from each other as well as from their tutors.
- We believe in the value of personal contact between tutors and trainees and in the value of immediate support and feedback.
- We believe teaching skills should be demonstrated in a live classroom, rather than being merely talked about (or worse still, written about).
- We believe tutors should have the opportunity to adjust and adapt the materials and tasks they use continuously, in response to the needs of the people in the classroom, whether that’s a physical or a virtual classroom.
